Dear Mama,
I see you.
I see you holding your baby as if your heart has moved into another body. I see your nerves extend into theirs. I see you learn to read the tension of their muscles, the flicker of their expressions, and hear the symphony of human emotions in their syllables. I see your soul ablaze with love, I see your inner Lioness rise.
I feel you.
I feel you learn the hues of exhaustion. I feel your heart burst wide open with the miracle of new life. I feel your defenses fall as the oxytocin weaves through you. I feel your tears as you see and feel the world as if a newborn and naked, yourself.
I hear you.
As your Lioness rises, I want to hear your roar. I want the roar to resonate with your deepest knowing, your inner truth. Throw the book on the floor, put the laptop off.
Close your eyes, hold your baby, let every cell in your body roar, “I am enough. I am worthy. I am loved.”
This is what I did not know when my baby was born thirteen years ago.
A baby is a portal into heaven, and parenting is a gateway into your soul. Every moment of conditioning, trigger, trauma, unconscious survival patterns, and ego will be brought to light on your parenting journey.
We live in a world that exploits this and will sell to us, distract us, normalise bypassing, and casually gaslight, every one of those moments. The voice of our ego sounds like our true voice in our heads, negative self talk sounds like reasonable reflection.
Mama, I want to hear you roar, “I am enough, I am worthy, I am loved.”
3 Simple Practices to connect to your Inner Truth and cut through the noise of the information age
Mindfulness
Take a moment each day to sink into your senses and get really present. See, taste, touch, smell, and hear. As you explore the full sensation of each of these you will feel really present. Start with just 1 minute, then extend it to 5 min.
Surrender
Parenting is knowing when to surrender to what is, and letting go of what you think something ought to be.
Connection
Parenting is a relationship, and a child is a child for far shorter than they will be an adult. Relationships thrive with love, trust, respect, and safe boundaries. Model compassion, say sorry, be honest. Parenting is not about perfection, it is about being real.
