Positive birthing affirmations are simple, yet remarkably effective.

By repeating positive statements to yourself, you confirm their truth to your subconscious mind. This can have a powerful effect on both your emotions, beliefs and expectations surrounding birth.

Practicing them can really help you to achieve the birth that you want – whether you are planning a home or hospital birth.

How do they work?

Our words carry enormous weight. Research has shown that around 80% of our ‘self-talk’ is negative. When it comes to birth, many women have fears and negative expectations which are neither necessary nor helpful.

But here’s the thing:

Our negative beliefs and assumptions are expressed as affirming statements in our head. But our brains can only consciously hold on to a few pieces of information at a time. We can use this to our advantage! By repeating positive affirmations, they are consciously remembered and begin to ‘push out’ the negative thoughts.

Practice, and you’ll find your head pleasantly filling with positive beliefs about the birth of your child. This will help you to approach labor with calm and confidence. Your body will respond and your uterus will work comfortably and effectively. This, in turn, will assist you to birth your baby as quickly and as easily as possible.
