My favorite middle names for Aiden have to be Aiden Lewis and Aiden Grant.

Lewis is of Germanic origin and means ‘famous warrior’. Famous Lewis’s are Lewis Carroll, author of Alice In Wonderland, and, more recently, 7-time Formula One world champion, Lewis Hamilton.

Grant is an historic, Scottish name that literally means ‘grand’, and brings the famous names of Ulysses S. Grant (18th U.S. president), and English actor Hugh Grant to mind.

Both names are simultaneously strong and soft, joining seamlessly with the name Aiden, but remember, just relax and choose a middle name by yourself that looks and sounds best for your little one…

The significance of picking the right middle name

The middle name you select for your child will become central to their lifelong identity. It could turn out to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show your affection for both your child and, possibly, a cherished family elder or ancestor.

Sometimes a well chosen middle name can offer a child a sense of comfort and stability.

It can also ‘personalize’ your baby’s full name if it befits a person, place or idea important to you as parents, eg., a friend, favorite celebrity, or even an inspirational religious leader.

For whatever the reasons, the ‘right’ middle name is something that really just needs to sound and fit comfortably with you.

If you are getting ‘blank canvas syndrome’, then here are three naming approaches to try out.

A middle name can be used to honor family members

Middle names are often used to honor a dearly departed family member or friend, or even to connect your child with their own heritage.

If you have a special cultural background, you may consider giving your child a middle name that honors those family ties.

This way, they’ll always feel connected to their roots.

Middle names as potential nicknames

Your child’s middle name can also double as a potential nickname.

Part of the attraction of this can be found in the ways you can shorten it. Margaret could become Maggie or Mags, While Josephine could soon be read as Jo Jo or Joey.

Choosing a middle name that doubles as a nickname is a great way to make your child feel extra special, so long as it suits their personality and isn’t a moniker that the school bully can make fun of.

The full-name power play

Remember how you felt when addressed by mom or dad loudly and ominously by your first, middle, and last names?

We think that there’s no faster way of grabbing your wayward kid’s attention than by doing just that – clearly calling them by their full names!

Any child knows that when their parents play the full-name power play card, trouble is just around the corner.

Believe me, it strikes fear into the heart of even the bravest little rebel.

Meaning of the name Aiden

The name Aiden is of Irish origin and means ‘fire’, and is also the Anglicized form of the Gaelic name Aodhán, meaning ‘little fire.’

Aiden is an extremely popular name in both Ireland and the United States.

The name Aiden is actually a great choice for your son as it implies both strength of character and uniqueness. It has a rich history and is associated with several notable historical figures.
